Twists’ Surprise?

Filed under: Family Funhouse — Naye @ 7:40 am

Saturday, Vanessa called me at work. “Mom, we have puppies.”

I’m like, “What?”

She said, “I’m not kidding! Mandy had two puppies. They’re under your bed and she won’t let me get them out.”

That’s right. She had two puppies and we had no idea she was even pregnant. I knew she was getting fatter, but she was a skinny thing when we got her. Since she’d most likely been a breeder dog (she didn’t even have a name other than Powder Buff on her papers), I figured she was just getting spoiled. Her coat had started growing in more and her ear fringe was getting long. I thought it was just one more thing showing that she’d gone uncared for in the past.

She lets me handle the puppies and the kids if I’m in there, but she won’t let anyone else anywhere close. She growls and attacks Henley, the golden retriever, if he walks by the door. Bad dog is now even worse…lol As soon as we can, I’m going to get her fixed and see if that’ll help her temper a little.

Doing the count backwards to when she was in heat, Twist was still here. He got stolen during that time. We locked her up in Rebecca’s bedroom for part of the time. It’s anyone’s guess if Twist is the father or some stray mutt. As of right now though, the puppies look just like baby papillions. If they are full papillion puppies, they’re easily worth $350 each…probably more if I send in for their papers. We won’t see any of that cash though. My mom has called the little girl puppy with black spots and my kids have informed me that we are not getting rid of the little boy puppy…lol I’m hoping he’s tiny like Twist. =)

Think of it as Twist’s legacy. :)

Speaking of puppies… any chance of standard poodle puppies on the horizon?? lol

None yet. They thought so, but it was a false alarm.

Fun at WM

Filed under: Family Funhouse — Naye @ 5:40 am

Sunday, after going out for lunch, my sister had to go to WM.  We didn’t have any shopping to do and the kids got bored.  I turned down one isle and my niece started giggling…and then Vanessa did.  I turned to where Vanessa was laughing, and this is what I saw.  People had been passing her by without even noticing she was there.

I lived!

Filed under: Family Funhouse — Naye @ 5:28 am

Amazingly enough, I lived through the weekend.  My eyes hurt probably because of all the crying, but that’s okay.  Sometimes crying is good for you.  It gets out all that silly emotional baggage that’s been building up.

The memorial was just amazing.  They had slideshow showing with pics from very recent to way back when.  There was congregational singing for a few of her favorite church hymns.  If you’ve never been to a church that doesn’t allow musical instruments, you’re missing out.  While Church of Christ preaches all kinds of hellfire and damnation that I feel suppresses the soul, singing frees it.  It’s enough to bring chills.  Gran’s four children wrote a little piece about their memories growing up.  The whole time, I was thinking, “That’s the kind of person I strive to be.”

While my brother-in-law’s family isn’t really my own, I’ve learned a lot about living from that family.  I’ve told them, but I’m not sure they realize just how much they’ve affected our lives.  They’ve been grandparents (and great grandparents) to my children who have actual grandparents 15 minutes away that they never see.  They taught me (and my sisters) simple things like showing affection.  They’re a very huggy/kissy family.  That’s something we simply did not do in our house growing up.  In turn, we taught my mother who now hugs us every time she sees us.  The kids don’t always appreciate it, but I sure do.

Oh well.  I’m just getting sappy now so I’ll shush…lol

Big Girls Cry

Filed under: Family Funhouse — Naye @ 6:57 am

Gran died.  This isn’t my grandmother; it’s my brother-in-law’s grandmother.  My brother-in-law and sister have been married since I was 14.  His family adopted us all.  His parents sold me the land my house is on.  They live right behind me.  My sister lives on one side of them and Gran lives on the other.  My kids have run from house to house via trails through the woods.  They would help Gran rake leaves, clean out her garage, and do other small things for cash.  I’d always tell them not to take it if she offered them money, but of course she’d insist.  She and Grams (my brother-in-law’s mom) went on daily walks and back when I was a stay at home mom, I’d walk with them.  During the walks, we’d just talk about life, flowers, the state of the world, or whatever.  Oddly enough, Gran was pretty open minded for an older person.  Much more liberal than my grandmother.

Monday was my cousin, Brendon’s birthday.  He’s the cousin that died a couple years back.  He always teased that everyone partied for his birthday (St. Patrick’s Day).  My aunt took off work.  I went, but was definitely out of sorts.  I wanted to call my aunt and say something, but what do you say?  “It’s his birthday!  I just wanted you to know I remembered.”  I didn’t call.  I wanted to call my sisters, but didn’t call them either.  I was afraid they may not have remembered and I didn’t want to blow their day.

My little sister is moving this week to be with her husband.  I don’t like it.  Even more than that, I don’t like that she’s moving my niece who’s with us every day of the world.  If she wants to move and see if her marriage is going to work, more power to her, but to rip her daughter away from the rest of us is pretty heartless IMO.  We’re not the normal family.  We see each other and talk to each other on a daily basis.  We take Sam to school and my brother-in-law picks her up.  The kids go down there and entertain her.  If a few days go by that we don’t see her, she calls, “Aunt Naye-Naye, can I come down and jump on your trampoline?”  She has a trampoline.  That’s not why she comes down.  She comes down because she misses us.

Last night my sister took us to dinner.  We discussed Gran.  We talked about Brendon and the fact that all of us knew it was his birthday, but didn’t call the other two.  We told Lene that we didn’t want her to move and that while we’d miss her, it was Sam we were worried about.  She told us that Sam has some baby sheep and a donkey waiting for her down there….and we all just laugh.  “Are you going to name the sheep Colten, Charlea, Vanessa, Micheal, and Ethan and the donkey Uncle Alex?  That might take her mind off us for a week.  If she missed her dad when he moved, how do you think she’s going to miss these kids when she moves????”  She knows we’re right, but she’s ignoring it trying to believe that this move will solve her problems.  Unfortunately, she’s moving away from her support group right to foro poquercartas en el pokerjuegos cartas pokeraprende a jugar pokerjuego de poker para descargarpoker runjuego de cartaslos mejores cuartos del pokerpoker pc games, strip poker games, poker gamescomputer poker gameel pokerjuegos poker, juegos de poker, juegos cartas pokerjuegos on line pokertexas holdem gratisstreap poker onlinejuegos de poker online gratistop poker onlinejuego de poker pcjuego de poker onlinepoker torneos gratispoker lineastrip poker pcpoquer de dadosdescarga pokerdescarga juego de pokerhow to play pokerjugar card studpoker en linea libre7 card stud gratisstreep poker on linedouble bonus poker downloadtorneos de pokerjugar texas holdemwww polli poquerbonus de poker en lineajuego al instante internetpoly pokerpoker online españoljuego poker gratuitoroulette lineainternet casinosganar dinero verdadero portal internet, ganar dinero, ganar dinero verdadero pagina internetjuego interactivo lineajuegos de ruletasistemas ruletapromocion casino onlinecasino compremio paginas internetjuegos webganar premios portales web her problem.

Saturday is Gran’s memorial.  I’m going to go and cry.  A lot.  For Gran, for Brendon, for Samantha, for my sister, but mainly for me.  I miss them.

Now that’s dedication!

Filed under: Other Nonsense — Naye @ 6:34 am

This woman had a little phobia that kept her in the bathroom…for two years.

This story amazes me for several reasons. Of course I have the normal questions like how does a woman get to the point that her butt is growing around a toilet seat or was seks a part of their “normal relationship”?

What really boggles my mind is, how was this guy not one of my houseboys? We all know some of the freaks and whack jobs I’ve had encountered. None of them were this dedicated!

Not the one that wrote me love poems and carved a message into the bridge at Putt Putt golf. He gave up when I stopped answering the phone.

Not the guy that would /sneak in order to stalk me in EverQuest (btw, thanks for all those see invis’s, Loe!). He gave up when I stopped playing the game.

Not the WoW warrior. He got mad and left guild when I told him we weren’t in a relationship; we were only playing a game….for the thousandth time.

Not even the toe sucker was this dedicated. He’d suck my sweaty toes after spending an entire day in the hot Texas sun, but he left after just one drunken concert.

How do you get a bathroom brunch bringing boyfriend? That is dedication, my friends. He is a loyal, dedicated, devout, obsessive, dependent man.  She must be some woman.

So I guess this answers your question about what kind of man you want now?

One who will stay with you even when your ass grows into a toilet seat.

    lol

…some of the responses to this story…

“They’re testing to see if she’s crazy?! What kind of tests does it take?”
    “Depends.”

“She didn’t want to cooperate with the police or the medical professionals trying to remove the seat. Apparently she’d grown attached to it.”

“Can’t believe the boyfriend put up with her sh1t.”

  3. Comment by Jim — March 14, 2008 @ 5:06 pm

It’s hard for me to see it as dedication. If the guy really cared, he’d have gotten her help, not just taken the easy route and brought her dinner. It takes a stronger person and a stronger devotion to do something that may upset them in the short term, but be right for them all around.

I heard about the snow in TX. Did it shut things down for days?

Of course not! We all have four wheel drives, you know. That means we can drive through anything! =P

    Very pretty pic though btw!!

Would you just grow up already?!?!?!

Filed under: Family Funhouse — Naye @ 9:33 am

I love my daughter. I really do, but with teen girls, comes teen drama. She’s grounded as you know. I’ve finally let her start going places explaining we’ll have to take this with little steps.

Little steps to me: letting her take her bf (that is now hated with the Naye Clan) along to get take out food and coming straight home.
Estimated time spent: 1 hour

Little steps to her: Leaving after school for a study party with the school nerds.
Estimated time spent: 6 hours

We moved past that and next got stuck on, “Can I go to Cody’s house?” Do you see the obvious problem with this question? That’s right! Cody has no house. He was kicked out. When I pointed this out, it was then revised to “Chapman’s house”.

My next question, “Who’s in control of parental supervision there?”

“Chapman’s Grandma.”

“Isn’t this the lady that every time you go over there, she says, “It was nice to meet you, Vanessa.” as if it were the first time? I don’t think she counts. Who else is on the line up?”

….and the fight was on. It was like she had scripted all the cheesiest lines ever and tried to use them against me.

“You let Ethan do anything he wants! He’s your favorite! You hate me! You never let me do anything! You never listen to me! You make me clean up and do laundry. It’s like I’m Cinderella!”

At this point, I really wanted to turn her into a pumpkin, but instead, I told her to go away, to which she responded first by telling me I always do that and never listen to her, and then she sent me a text message saying, “I HATE YOU!” That was the last straw.

I’m listing her on ebay if any of you want to bid. If there are no bidders, then I’m going to go with Cody’s parents’ idea of kicking her out of the house so that I don’t have to deal with the drama.

Okay, okay. I haven’t done that. I went and spent the rest of the day talking to her and trying to explain that not only does she sound like a John Hughes movie, but that I am trying hard to be nice in this situation. I would much prefer to forbid her from seeing cody, send her away to boarding school, and live happily ever after with my favored child, Ethan…to which Ethan interjected that he thinks Vanessa is the favorite because she’s so spoiled. She gets to do anything she wants.

There are times I get tired. It’s like, “This has all been done before. Can’t you come up with something new and creative that wasn’t featured on an episode of Cosby or Rosanne?” At those times I usually say to myself, “Just one more year of this!”

…and then it hits me, I only have one more year of this. =(

What is my type?

Filed under: Friends and Relationships — Naye @ 9:15 am

So the underwear and blue jeans stealing girly from work still comments on finding someone for me if I would just tell her what my type is. I’d so love to do this, but I don’t think I have a type. Beyond brainiacs and men with great imaginations, I really have no idea what I like. So I turn to you all.

Do you want to read the adventures of dates with men the crazy woman sets me up with?

Do you want to finally tell me “Stop looking at tools like this and find ones with these qualities!”?

Do you want to see my blog hopping with activity again?

If so, reply with a list of suggestions to What Is My Type at Nayesworld.com.

We’ll leave the post up for you!

I finally committed.

Filed under: Other Nonsense — Naye @ 7:45 am

I’ve been cell phone shopping for a while now and finally decided to go with a phone upgrade through AT&T online.  The winning phone?  Sony Ericsson Walkman 580i in carbon gray as the white and black models had orange key pads that I didn’t like.  I then went to ebay and found a purple cover for it.  Now I just have to wait for it to arrive.   The phone takes good pics that can be uploaded to the computer so expect more pics soon!!!!
