Big Boy and Pretty Girl

Filed under: Family Funhouse — Naye @ 4:45 pm

That’s not the official names of my puppies, but that’s what I keep calling them right now. They really need names. I took them outside to play and got some photos. Not many though as they seemed to enjoy staying between my feet where I couldn’t get pics…lol

It’s Only Money

Filed under: Family Funhouse — Naye @ 4:28 pm

Vanessa had to turn in her money for an AP History test…the one that gets you college credits if you score high enough.  She didn’t bother telling me that she had to have $46 by today until last night.  I borrowed the money from my mom because payday isn’t until tomorrow and I was cutting it close.  I gave my mom a check for $100 and she gave me a $100 bill.

I ran up to the grocery store to get a few items and make sure I had the proper change to give to the school.  When I got to the grocery store, I stepped out of the truck, shut the door, took a couple steps, and then thought to myself, “Where did I put that money anyway?”  I checked my pocket.  It wasn’t there.  I looked in my coin purse and it wasn’t there either.  I turned around and opened the truck door.  Nope.  No where to be found.  At this point, I started to cry.  How could I lose $100?!?!  Where did it go?!?!

I started tracing back my steps.  I put it in my pocket, talked to my mom a bit and played with her birds, then I reached in my pocket and grabbed my keys to go.  I called my mom.  “Please tell me I knocked it out of my pocket while reaching for my keys at your house.”  No such luck.  She told me just to come back and she’d give me another one.

I went into the store and told them I had lost $100 in their parking lot.  They took my name and number, but I doubt anyone will turn that money in.  I always turn in the money I find because it’s always in my head that it’s not mine and someone might really need it, but I think I’m in the minority on that.

I just hope that whoever found that money really needed it.  I know lots of people are struggling financially right now.  I had had my mom to help me out, but not everyone does.  It makes me feel better to think that someone had a windfall right when they needed it most, so that’s what I’m going to focus on rather than thinking “How could you be so stupid as to misplace $100?!?!”…lol

Maybe I’ll get lucky and it’ll find it’s way back to me.  That’s typically not my kind of luck, but it could happen!!

Dancer Prancer Vixen

Filed under: Other Nonsense — Naye @ 9:14 am

A friend at work said this girl had a dancer’s body.  He was on his way out and I got the impression that was a good thing, so I didn’t ask what that meant.  I couldn’t stand not knowing though so I asked another co-worker later on, “What’s the term “dancer’s body” mean?”

The reply I got was, “What kind of dancer?  Exotic?  Regular?”

I’m like, “Does it make a difference?  Explain!”

I didn’t really get an explanation.  Is this universal guy code?  What is a dancer’s body?   I tend to think of a ballet dancer and those body types just don’t appeal to me - tall waifs with no bobbies, but plenty nice long legs.  I can see where an exotic dancer would be appealing, but then wouldn’t they have said exotic dancer?

Once again, I’m clueless and it drives me nuts…lol  I’m the last person you’d want to have to pick out your attacker in a police line up.  I’m so bad at noticing physical attributes unless they’re just extremely pronounced.  I’m wondering if this is the reason I can’t grasp onto those concepts.

HELP!  Give me some examples of people with dancer’s bodies and are there other phrases like that I should know that I don’t?

Wink Week

Filed under: Work Woes — Naye @ 8:26 am

Last week was the wink week for me.  I had people winking at me left and right.  It’s odd how something like that happens. Like an old song you hear on the radio and suddenly you’re hearing it all over the place.  This was winking though and while people do wink fairly often at work, it’s usually just once a week or so - not several people every day.

I got the “Thanks for being so nice” wink, the dirty old man “If I were 30 years younger…” wink, the “Just play along” wink, and the “I know you caught that dirty comment” wink all in one day!  I didn’t get the “Oh baby, I want you” wink though. =/

*sigh*  Maybe this week…

Missing Mandy

Filed under: Family Funhouse — Naye @ 6:11 am

I got home yesterday and pet Henley on the porch. The puppies were crying so I grabbed the little white male who was growling at me and brought him to the computer.   (I think I’m going to name him Beauregard or Bogart and call him Bo, but I’m not 100% sure yet.)  As I was checking emails, message boards, blogs, and talking to Mudir and Rhyllos on IM, it dawned on me that I hadn’t seen Mandy since I got in. She never lets Henley near me and she doesn’t leave the puppies….so the search began.

I checked the house, calling her name. Looked under the beds, sofas, in the laundry room, and every closet (just in case the kids had locked her up), but she was nowhere. At this point, I was in tears calling my mom and sister. I drove up and down the roads nearby and it hit me, Twist went missing on a Wednesday night as well, sometime between the time the kids left for church and I got home from work.

I got back home, logged into WoW to explain what was going on and bowed out of the Gruul’s raid. I decided to check the house again just in case I missed something….and there she was, under my bed. I picked her up and she yelped and peed all over me. When I set her back down, she ran over between the wall and a little table. She sat there looking at me. She didn’t growl at Ethan’s friend or Henley who had moved to her favorite spot under the computer desk. Something was obviously not right.

I checked all her legs and they seemed okay. I checked for any visible signs that something was wrong, but there weren’t any. She was arching her back funny when she walked and favoring one leg. The best I can figure is that there’s a hip out of socket. I’m taking her to the vet today…or my mom is. I’m not sure which yet, but she’s going either way. She’s not making a sound - and for a yappy dog, that’s just not right.

My mom has made up her mind that someone tried to dog nap her and she got away. Maybe that’s true…or maybe she got out and got hit by a car….or maybe …. Who knows. I just know I’m glad to have my dog back and I’ll do what it takes to make sure she’s okay.

    What did the vet say?

    Hope she’s okay! *hugs*

The vet was closed on Thursday. /boggle I worked Friday and Saturday and my mom was out of town. My mom dog sat her on Thursday, and I made the kids come straight home and watch her Friday. She seems to be back to her normal self now without the limp or whining. I’ve no idea what happened, but she’s fine now.

I’m taking the hugs anyway! *hugs*

Morning Blahs

Filed under: Work Woes — Naye @ 7:06 am

I’ve gotten to where I don’t like going to work early.  It’s not that I sleep in; it’s that I have things I want to do in the mornings.  For instance, I got the new memory card for my phone and I want to DL music to put on my phone.  I keep telling myself I can do it when I get home, but I know I won’t.  Mornings is when I’m most productive and I hate wasting that one work…lol

While I’m Telling Work Stories…

Filed under: Work Woes — Naye @ 8:59 am

Someone ran underwear up WM’s flagpole…lol  I’m not sure if it’s actually a flag pole, but it is a pole that extends from the roof of the building.  I thought it was funny, but management did not so they made some grunt climb up there and take it down.  I can’t help but wonder how long it’d been up there before someone told them.

If you’ve been in your local WM store, you know they’ve been pushing credit cards hot and heavy for a while now.  We have a lady dedicated to WM credit card sales.  She does well.  We’ve been first in our district enough times that other stores came to see what her secret was.  She told them, “I prayed and asked God to give me the strength to do it.”

Last week, she was speaking with a preacher when suddenly, she fell backwards onto the ground by the jewelry counter and started flailing around.  Someone in the vision center saw and called management (normal procedure for accidents).  The member of management got there and asked her what happened, “The holy spirit rushed into me.”

That’s right, friends!  You can get anything at WM, even the holy spirit.

The Kissing Bandit

Filed under: Work Woes — Naye @ 8:51 am

A week ago, a gentleman came into the store and stopped a co-worker, “Don’t you work in the eye glass place?”.  She said she did and he went on to tell her that he plays in a band, travels a lot, etc etc.  She thought he was telling her the information to see about his eye glass needs.  He asked for the phone number and she gave it to him….and then he tried to kiss her.  It turns out that she was his third victim.

One of the other ladies was approached by him saying, “Don’t I know you?”  Since she’s lived in this town all her life, she knows a lot of people.  She said she thought she knew him and he went on to kiss her twice, brush up against her chest, and then ask if she wanted to get a motel room….lol  She said, “We were at third base before I realized I didn’t know him!!”

I’m just wondering the mind set of a man that gets his thrill by kissing the female employee’s at WM.  I might could see doing this at say Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch.  Actually, I might start doing this at A&F…but WM?!?!  How many employees have you seen at WM that you would want to kiss???…lol

Prom - The Aftermath

Filed under: Family Funhouse — Naye @ 6:45 am

Vanessa texted me during prom, “Hey mom, can we still have people over and do the scavenger hunt thing?”  I wanted to kill her.  “NO!  It’s too late to get stuff ready for that!!!”  She texted me several times during the night and when she decided which party she wanted to go to, she texted me that too.  All the kids went to one party…at the local pot head’s house.  I can’t say I was happy about it, but despite all the trouble we’ve had (or maybe because of it), I trust my daughter.  She doesn’t want to get yelled at and be grounded again..which is why she had been texting me all night.  She called a few minutes before 2AM (her curfew for the night) to say they were having to make people move cars for them to get out, but they were on their way.

At 2:30, Vanessa strolled in the door…with the two girls that were spending the night AND Ryder.  “Mom, Ryder’s parents said he could only go if he spent the night with someone.  He was supposed to spend the night at Marcus’ (the kid that threw the party), but his parents aren’t letting people in the house.  He’d have to sleep outside so I told him he could stay with Ethan.”

My gut reaction was to say no.  We actually argued a bit about it and Vanessa said, “Mom, you know his parents and you know Ryder.  You know you’re like Ryder’s mom.  He’s not going to do anything to get kicked out of your house.”  …and she was right.  I’ve called Ryder my fourth child for years and he has called me mom forever.  His parents are worthless IMO.  That didn’t change the fact that I slept on the sofa that night.  Vanessa slept in my room, her two girlfriends slept in her room, Ryder slept in Ethan’s room, and Mandy the dog barked and woke us all up anytime anyone moved the slightest bit.

The next morning…well, it was actually about noon, I woke Vanessa up and was checking my emails.  Ryder came in, grabbed some breakfast, and sat in the den with me.  The other two girls finally woke up and came in the den.  That was probably my favorite part.  Everyone sitting around with bedhead eating powdered donuts and drinking cokes *cheers sugar for breakfast* while talking over each other trying to tell me their favorite part of prom and the after party.
